Sedimentation coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010649

The ratio of the constant sedimentation velocity of a particle to the applied acceleration field causing the sedimentation. It quantifies how quickly a particle settles in a fluid under the influence of an external force, such as gravity or centrifugation. The sedimentation coefficient is typically expressed in Svedberg units (S).
