Sedimentation velocity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010654

The rate at which particles or molecules move through a fluid under the influence of a centrifugal force. This velocity is dependent on the particle's size, shape, density, and the viscosity of the medium. It is a key parameter in analytical ultracentrifugation, used to determine molecular weight and hydrodynamic properties of macromolecules.
