Settling velocity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010783
The constant rate at which a particle falls through a fluid under the influence of gravity when the drag force equals the gravitational force. This velocity depends on the particle's size, density, and shape, as well as the fluid's density and viscosity. It is a key parameter in processes like sedimentation, wastewater treatment, and atmospheric aerosol dynamics.
