Spectrometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011160

An instrument that measures the intensity of electromagnetic radiation as a function of its wavelength or frequency. It consists of an entrance slit, a dispersion element like a prism or grating, and an exit slit or detector. Spectrometers are used to analyze the spectral composition of light emitted, absorbed, or scattered by a sample.
