Spectrograph

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011159

An optical instrument that disperses electromagnetic radiation into its constituent wavelengths and records the resulting spectrum. It consists of an entrance slit, a dispersing element like a prism or grating, and a detector such as a photographic plate or charge-coupled device. This device is used for simultaneous detection of multiple wavelengths.
