Monochromator

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007539

An optical device that selects a narrow band of wavelengths from a broader spectrum of light. It typically uses a diffraction grating or a prism to disperse the incident light, and then a slit to isolate the desired wavelength range. Monochromators are widely used in spectroscopy to provide monochromatic light for sample illumination or detection.
