X-ray monochromator
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012765
A device used to select a narrow range of X-ray energies from a polychromatic X-ray source. It typically employs Bragg diffraction from a crystal to disperse the X-rays, allowing only a specific wavelength to pass through. Common materials for monochromator crystals include silicon, germanium, and graphite.
