Luminescence spectrometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006809

An analytical instrument designed to measure the intensity and spectral distribution of light emitted by a sample after it has been excited by electromagnetic radiation. It typically consists of an excitation source, a monochromator to select the excitation wavelength, a sample compartment, an emission monochromator, and a detector. These instruments are used for qualitative and quantitative analysis based on fluorescence, phosphorescence, or chemiluminescence.
