Α-ray spectrometer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000763
An instrument designed to measure the energy distribution of alpha particles emitted from a radioactive source. It consists of a radiation detector, such as a semiconductor detector, and associated electronics for signal processing and energy analysis. The spectrometer provides a spectrum of alpha particle energies, which can be used for radionuclide identification and quantification in environmental samples or nuclear materials.
