Detection efficiency

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003078

The probability that a nuclear particle or photon emitted by a radioactive source will produce a detectable signal in a radiation detector. It is expressed as the ratio of the number of detected events to the number of events emitted by the source. This value depends on the detector's physical properties, geometry, and the energy of the radiation.
