Radioactive source

A quantity of radioactive material specifically prepared and encapsulated for its radiation to be used for a particular purpose, such as calibration, medical therapy, or industrial gauging. These sources emit ionizing radiation, including alpha, beta, gamma, or neutron particles. They are subject to strict regulatory controls regarding their production, use, and disposal.
