Radioactive
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009860
Describing an unstable atomic nucleus that undergoes spontaneous disintegration, emitting radiation in the process. This decay results in the formation of a different nuclide, often accompanied by the release of alpha particles, beta particles, or gamma rays. The rate of decay is characterized by the half-life of the radionuclide.
