Decay constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002892
The probability per unit time that a single nucleus of a radioactive isotope will undergo radioactive decay. It is a characteristic property of a particular radionuclide and is inversely related to its half-life. The decay constant is typically denoted by the symbol lambda (λ) and has units of inverse time, such as s^-1.
