Decay rate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002893

The rate at which a radioactive substance undergoes spontaneous nuclear disintegration, transforming into a different atomic nucleus. It is typically expressed as the number of disintegrations per unit time. The decay rate is proportional to the number of radioactive nuclei present and is characterized by the half-life of the isotope.
