Radioluminescence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009895
The emission of light from a substance as a direct result of its excitation by ionizing radiation. This phenomenon occurs when high-energy particles or electromagnetic waves transfer energy to atoms, causing them to emit photons. Examples of ionizing radiation include alpha particles, beta particles, and gamma rays.
