Radiation catalysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009818
A chemical process where the rate of a reaction is enhanced by the absorption of ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays, X-rays, or high-energy electrons. This radiation initiates chemical changes by generating highly reactive species like free radicals or excited states within the system. The process differs from photocatalysis, which uses non-ionizing radiation like UV or visible light.
