Scattering geometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010565

The spatial arrangement of a radiation source, a sample, and a detector in a scattering experiment. This arrangement defines the angles of incidence and detection relative to the sample, which determine the properties of the scattered radiation that are measured. The geometry is specified by parameters such as the scattering angle, the solid angles subtended by the source and detector, and the distances between the components.
