Scattering plane

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013524

The geometric plane defined by the direction of an incident beam of radiation or particles and the direction of a scattered beam originating from a common point of interaction. All measurements of scattered intensity are referenced relative to this plane. The scattering angle is the angle within this plane between the forward direction of the incident beam and the direction of the scattered beam.
