Scattering
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010559
The process by which particles or radiation deviate from their original trajectory after interacting with matter. This interaction can involve elastic collisions, where kinetic energy is conserved, or inelastic collisions, where energy is transferred. Examples include light scattering by colloids or electron scattering in microscopy.
