Elastic scattering cross section
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003621
A measure of the probability that an incident particle, such as an electron or photon, will undergo elastic scattering when interacting with a target atom or molecule. This quantity represents the effective area presented by the target for elastic scattering events. It is typically expressed in units of area, such as square centimeters or barns.
