Single scattering

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010892

The process where a photon or particle interacts with only one scattering center within a medium before being detected or leaving the medium. This interaction changes the direction of the incident radiation. In light scattering, it is typically observed in dilute systems where the probability of multiple interactions is low.
