Single scattering
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008889
The process where an electromagnetic wave or particle interacts with only one scattering center in a medium before being detected or absorbed. In atmospheric optics, this applies to light interacting with individual aerosols or cloud droplets. It is a simpler case than multiple scattering, where interactions occur with many particles.
