Multiple scattering

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007455

The process by which electromagnetic radiation undergoes several scattering events as it passes through a medium containing numerous particles. Instead of a single interaction, photons are deflected multiple times, altering their direction and polarization. This phenomenon is particularly relevant in dense clouds or turbid atmospheres, affecting visibility and the interpretation of remote sensing data.
