Geometry
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004855
The spatial arrangement of a radioactive source relative to a radiation detector, including their shapes, sizes, and the distance and materials between them. This configuration determines the fraction of the total radiation emitted from the source that reaches the active volume of the detector. The counting efficiency, which is the ratio of detected events to emitted particles, is directly dependent on this geometric setup.
