Counting efficiency
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002643
The ratio of the number of detected radiation events (counts) to the actual number of radiation events emitted by a source within a given time period. It quantifies the effectiveness of a radiation detector in registering emitted radiation. This efficiency is influenced by factors such as detector geometry, energy of the radiation, and detector material properties, and is expressed as a fraction or percentage.
