Energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003917
A scalar physical quantity representing the capacity of a system to perform work or to produce heat. It exists in multiple forms, including kinetic, potential, thermal, and chemical energy, which are interconvertible according to the law of conservation of energy. The SI unit for energy is the joule (J), defined as the work done when a force of one newton displaces an object by one meter.
