Energized species
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003916
A molecule or molecular entity that possesses a higher level of internal energy than its equilibrium state at the same temperature. This excess energy, which can be electronic, vibrational, or rotational, makes the species more reactive. An energized species is distinct from an activated complex, as it is not necessarily located at a saddle point on the potential-energy surface.
