Vibrational kinetic energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012564
The energy associated with the motion of atoms within a molecule as they oscillate around their equilibrium positions. This energy is quantized and contributes to the total internal energy of a molecule. It is a component of the total kinetic energy of the molecule, distinct from translational and rotational kinetic energy.
