Vibrational eigenvector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012563
A mathematical vector that describes the displacement of atoms in a molecule during a specific normal mode of vibration. Each eigenvector corresponds to a unique vibrational frequency and represents a collective motion of all atoms in the molecule. These vectors are obtained from a normal coordinate analysis and are orthogonal to each other.
