Vibrational circular dichroism

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012562

A spectroscopic technique that measures the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized infrared light by a chiral molecule. This phenomenon arises from the interaction of molecular vibrations with the electric and magnetic fields of light. It provides detailed information about the absolute configuration and conformation of chiral molecules.
