Circular dichroism

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002082

The differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized light by a chiral substance, resulting in a measurable spectroscopic signal. This phenomenon occurs when a molecule possesses optical activity and absorbs light in a specific wavelength range. Circular dichroism spectroscopy is widely used to determine the secondary structure of proteins and the absolute configuration of chiral molecules.
