Rotation-vibration spectrum

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010430

A type of molecular spectrum that arises from simultaneous changes in both the rotational and vibrational energy levels of a molecule. These spectra are typically observed in the infrared region and provide detailed information about molecular structure, bond lengths, and force constants. The fine structure within vibrational bands is due to rotational transitions.
