Molecular spectra

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007521

The characteristic patterns of absorbed or emitted electromagnetic radiation that arise from transitions between the electronic, vibrational, and rotational energy levels of molecules. These spectra are unique to each molecular species and are used for identification and quantitative analysis. They typically appear as bands rather than sharp lines.
