Band spectra

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001107

Spectra characterized by groups of closely spaced lines that appear as broad bands, arising from transitions between rotational and vibrational energy levels within molecules. These spectra are observed for molecules in the gas phase or in solution. Each band corresponds to a specific electronic transition, with the fine structure within the band due to vibrational and rotational changes.
