Band shape

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001106

The characteristic profile of an absorption or emission band in a spectrum, determined by factors such as natural linewidth, Doppler broadening, and pressure broadening. It describes the intensity distribution as a function of wavelength or wavenumber. The band shape provides information about the molecular environment and interactions within a sample.
