Gaussian band shape
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004783
A spectral band profile that can be described by a Gaussian function, characterized by a bell-shaped curve. This shape arises when the broadening of spectral lines is dominated by inhomogeneous effects, such as Doppler broadening or variations in local environments. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) is a common measure of its width.
