Instrument line shape
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005905
The characteristic spectral profile produced by a spectroscopic instrument when measuring a monochromatic input signal. This shape is determined by the optical and electronic properties of the instrument, including slit widths, detector response, and aberrations. It contributes to the observed width and shape of spectral peaks and can be described by functions like Gaussian or Lorentzian.
