Voigt function
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012601
A mathematical function that describes a spectral line shape resulting from the convolution of a Gaussian function and a Cauchy (Lorentzian) function. This function accounts for both Doppler broadening (Gaussian) and natural or collisional broadening (Lorentzian) effects. It is commonly used in spectroscopy to model observed spectral profiles.
