X-ray linewidth
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012763
The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of an X-ray emission or absorption peak in a spectrum. It reflects the natural lifetime broadening of the electronic states involved in the X-ray transition, as well as instrumental broadening effects. The linewidth provides information about the electronic structure and chemical environment of the emitting or absorbing atom.
