X-ray escape peak
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012756
A peak in an X-ray spectrum that appears at an energy lower than the characteristic X-ray energy of the element being analyzed. This phenomenon occurs when a characteristic X-ray photon, generated within the detector, escapes without depositing its full energy. The energy difference corresponds to the characteristic X-ray energy of the detector material, such as silicon or germanium.
