Transition coordinate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012231
A specific vibrational mode or combination of modes that describes the motion of atoms along the reaction pathway from reactants to the transition state. It represents the direction of steepest descent from the transition state on the potential energy surface towards both reactants and products. The transition coordinate has an imaginary frequency at the transition state.
