Transit time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012230

The time in seconds that a component needs to pass through the observation zone of a flame. It is governed by the dimensions of the observed volume, how hot the flame is, and which solute is being sprayed. It differs from the travel time, which is the time taken to reach the observation zone from the burner tip.
