Transient-stimulated emission pumping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012229
A time-resolved pump-dump technique in which a short pump pulse excites the molecules and a second short dump pulse, delayed by a variable time, stimulates them back down to the ground electronic state. The population removed by the dump pulse, followed as a function of the pump-dump delay, shows how the excited state evolves. It differs from conventional stimulated emission pumping, which uses narrow-band pulses to reach selected high vibrational levels of the ground state.
