Rise velocity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010369

The upward component of the speed of the vaporized analyte as it travels through the viewing region of a flame, given in millimeters per second. In flame emission and absorption spectrometry its value varies with how hot the flame is, which solute is aspirated, the height at which the flame is viewed and the flow rate of the gases. In fluid mechanics the same name is used for the speed at which a bubble or drop ascends through a liquid.
