Col
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002197
A saddle point on a potential-energy surface, representing a transition state between reactants and products in a chemical reaction. At a col, the energy is a maximum along the reaction coordinate but a minimum in all other perpendicular directions. The properties of the col determine the activation energy and rate of the reaction.
