Out-of-plane bending coordinate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008374

A vibrational coordinate describing the displacement of an atom or group of atoms perpendicular to a defined molecular plane. This motion involves a change in the angle between a bond and a plane. Such coordinates are used in molecular mechanics and vibrational spectroscopy to characterize molecular flexibility.
