Detailed balancing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003077

A principle stating that at equilibrium, the rate of every elementary process is equal to the rate of its reverse process. This applies to individual microscopic reactions, not just the overall macroscopic reaction. It is a stronger condition than simply having equal forward and reverse macroscopic reaction rates.
