Principle of microscopic reversibility
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009477
A principle stating that at equilibrium, the rate of every elementary process is equal to the rate of its reverse process. This implies that the forward and reverse paths of a reaction proceed through the same transition state. The principle applies to individual molecular events, not necessarily to overall macroscopic reactions.
