Antisymmetry principle
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000716
A fundamental principle in quantum mechanics stating that the total wavefunction of a system of identical fermions must be antisymmetric with respect to the exchange of any two particles. This implies that if two identical fermions are exchanged, the sign of the wavefunction must change. The Pauli exclusion principle is a direct consequence of this principle.
