Wavelength dispersion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012652
The process of spatially separating polychromatic radiation into its constituent monochromatic components according to their wavelengths. This is achieved using a dispersing element, such as a prism or a diffraction grating, which deflects different wavelengths by different angles. The angular dispersion is a measure of this separation, expressed in units of angle per unit wavelength, such as radians per nanometer.
